estabrook park along the river in milwaukee. really feeling good. had blast last sunday at washington park and a week's worth of drills and rides have gone well.
it was a drag race of a start across the the park, two right handers, over the barriers: tout va bien,
my bike was fine, but as it bounced onto the course, the guy who hit it punctured. i felt really bad, 'cause he was done. i mean what do you say as you ride past? "sorry, one fifty (?)." "it's all right," was is gracious retort.
as the laps went by i was able to gain a few positions. then, after a footrace on the last run up, i decided to ride directly into the right side bushes on the re-mount. "hey guys, wait for me!"
wow. i was really humbled by the whole experience. i mean, feeling bad about crashing someone out, then working to get some places back, only to lose three of them on the last re-mount. oh, did i forget to mention i got lapped right next to the ruins of the tennis courts?
well enough of my pity-party. time to get over myself.
let's play WHO'S AT THE RACES!
here's Richard who rides cat. 4 with me (ok, ahead of me) and Jane. she won some stuff this day. good job Jane!
most of you know mean Gene the 'cross machine (sure he's never heard that one before) & Barb. Barb works with my wife Margo and was quite surprised to find someone who even knew what cyclo-cross was...
maybe next week will be better?
